About Providence Church
A Reformed Baptist Church in Mansfield, Ohio
Building God-fearing families throughout Northern Ohio by means of the faithful exposition of God’s word, loving pastoral care, and personal congregational fellowship.
Providence Church is a small but growing congregation rooted in the timeless truths of Scripture. Our church community endeavors to live out the gospel in all aspects of life. Led by our pastor Jamie Terry and elders, Providence Church seeks to cultivate a culture of boldness, grounded in righteousness and empowered by the Holy Spirit. Our worship is centered on God, incorporating expository preaching of Scripture, congregational songs and prayer, and the celebration of Lord’s Supper. With a heart for both local outreach and global missions, we strive to share the love of Christ with our community and beyond.
At Providence Church, we uphold family as instituted by God and encourage multigenerational worship. We are committed to loving one another, serving our neighbors, and glorifying God in all we do. We invite you to join us as we grow together in Christlikeness and make a difference for His kingdom.
Church Foundation
“In Essentials Unity, In Non-Essentials Liberty, In All Things Charity.”
Unity in
Essentials
We adhere to the timeless truths of Scripture, holding to the inerrancy, infallibility, sufficiency, and authority of the Bible above all else and confess the faith in the creeds of the early church and the confessions of the Reformation.
Liberty in
Non-Essentials
While we are wholeheartedly committed to defending the essentials of the faith, we also recognize the importance of respecting the conscience of others on non-essentials. “God alone is Lord of the conscience.”
Charity in
All Things
In 1 Corinthians 13, Paul declares the preeminence of love above all spiritual gifts. Whether in essential or non-essential matters, we are called to live by love for God and each other.
Meet Our Pastor:
Jamie Terry
Jamie Terry is the full-time preaching pastor at Providence Church. He spent his childhood as a false convert thinking he was saved even though he was not. In 2011, at 19 years old, he was truly converted to Christ after listening to Paul Washer’s Shocking Youth Message online. Immediately afterwards Jamie had a passion for evangelism.
After serving the Lord in full-time evangelism for several years the Lord called Jamie into pastoral ministry. He holds an M.A. in Pastoral Studies from Covenant Baptist Theological Seminary, a Bachelor of Biblical Exposition from Andersonville Theological Seminary, and a Certificate in Biblical Studies from Liberty University.
Pastor Jamie is passionate about evangelism, expository preaching, discipleship, and the local church. He currently resides in the Mansfield, Ohio area with his wife and two children. Jamie’s desire is that in all he does Christ will be glorified.

We are Reformed Theologically
Providence Church is distinct from many other churches in the Ashland and Mansfield areas because we hold to the Reformed doctrines of the Protestant faith, specifically The Second London Baptist Confession of 1689. Reformed Theology derives its name from a movement known as the Protestant Reformation which occurred in the 16th and 17th centuries. The Reformation was basically a back to the Bible movement. Over the centuries gross errors had developed within the church. But God raised up great men of faith who were dedicated to the study of the Bible (such as John Calvin, John Knox, and Martin Luther). These men began to teach the Bible and, as a result, reform the church.
We are Evangelism Minded
At Providence Church we put a priority on the Great Commission and the charge Christ gives to spread the gospel. Our heart’s passion is that all men would fear and worship the true and living God. As a result, we seek to be intentional in evangelism. Throughout the year we provide opportunities for the members of our church to share the faith and engage people with the gospel. Some of our regular evangelism events include our weekly street ministry and our booth at the Ashland County Fair.
We are Scripturally Based
We at Providence believe that God has, out of His mere good pleasure, revealed Himself and given us a perfect record of His will in the Old and New Testaments of the Christian Bible. We believe that the Holy Spirit supernaturally guided ordinary men so that they would record exactly what was necessary for the communication of divine truth. As the divinely inspired and inerrant word of God the Bible reveals God’s plan of salvation and how we should rightly understand life and the world around us. For this reason all matters of life and faith are to be subject to the authority of the Bible.
